Alex Selawsky is a New York City–based soprano/mezzo-soprano with an affinity for early music and contemporary repertoire. A graduate of Boston University and Mannes College of Music, she holds degrees in voice and opera.
Alex has performed roles from L’incoronazione di Poppea and Hänsel und Gretel with the New York Lyric Opera Theatre, and has appeared in scenes from Falstaff and Così fan tutte with the Savannah Voice Festival. In June 2024, they were featured at the Mostly Modern Festival at Skidmore College, performing contemporary song, opera scenes, and chamber music.
A committed collaborator, Alex has partnered with pianists Emile Blondel and Markus Kaitila, most recently performing Aaron Copland’s 12 Poems of Emily Dickinson in Manhattan. Her concert work also includes appearances as a soloist and section leader in Handel’s Messiah and Martín Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires at the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, NJ, as well as performances with Downtown Voices at Trinity Church in New York City under Stephen Sands.
Upcoming engagements include their debut as Penelope in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria with the Brooklyn Telemann Chamber Society in November 2026. In addition to performing, Alex works on the administrative team at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. They study with Beth Roberts.
